Kailyn Min / Dancer & Choreographer

Movement / Identity

A story, in her own words.

Kailyn Min is a dancer and choreographer whose artistic practice is rooted in storytelling, expressive movement, and collaboration. Beginning dance classes at age two and entering competitive dance at eight, she developed an early appreciation for the discipline behind performance and the expressive possibilities of movement.

Since joining Sunny Hills High School's Dance Production as a freshman, Kailyn has explored jazz, jazz funk, hip-hop, contemporary, and lyrical dance, expanding her versatility as both a performer and choreographer. Now a two-year captain, she leads rehearsals, teaches choreography, and works alongside fellow dancers to transform individual movements into cohesive ensemble performances.

For Kailyn, some of the most meaningful moments unfold during Dance Production's winter and spring showcases, when months of rehearsals culminate in a shared performance. She finds equal fulfillment in watching choreography take shape through her teammates' interpretations, as each dancer brings distinct dynamics, character, and emotion to the work.

Her approach to dance continues to evolve through collaboration, experimentation, and an enduring curiosity about the ways movement can communicate what words cannot.

02 / Artistic philosophy

In her own words.

I am drawn to the way movement can make emotion visible. A shift in dynamics, a suspended moment, or the smallest change in musicality can transform how a story is understood. When I choreograph, I think about how each dancer can inhabit the movement differently while contributing to a shared artistic vision.

I find the greatest fulfillment in that collaborative process: experimenting with unfamiliar ideas, exchanging interpretations, and watching choreography develop a character beyond what I initially imagined. Dance gives me the freedom to express vulnerability through movement and share it with others.

03 / Leadership

Within the ensemble.

Beyond the Choreography

As a two-year captain of Sunny Hills High School's Dance Production, Kailyn approaches leadership as an extension of her artistry. Through teaching choreography, guiding rehearsals, and collaborating with her teammates, she has learned to recognize how each dancer's individuality contributes to the strength of an ensemble.

One of her greatest rewards comes from watching choreography evolve beyond its initial creation. Movements she once envisioned independently take on new dimensions as dancers bring their own musicality, expression, and character to the stage. Whether preparing for winter and spring showcases or competitions, Kailyn values the collective discipline and creative exchange that transform hours of rehearsal into a shared performance.

Training & experience.

A Foundation in Movement

Kailyn began taking dance classes at age two and entered competitive dance at eight, developing a foundation in jazz and recreational ballet. Her training has since expanded through her involvement in Dance Production, where she performs and choreographs across jazz, jazz funk, hip-hop, contemporary, and lyrical styles.

Through years of rehearsals, performances, and choreography, she continues to refine her technique, musicality, versatility, and expressive range. Her development reflects an ongoing commitment to exploring new movement styles and learning through collaboration with other dancers.
